A good match schedule keeps games moving without spreadsheets or guesswork. When everyone wants plenty of playing time, our round robin generator pairs every participant against every other participant once using the classic circle rotation. Even with an odd number of players, nobody is left out: one person rests each round with a clear bye, and everyone gets the exact same number of games. For compact leagues of up to ten teams, home and away doubles the fixtures and flips the sides in the return half. When time is short or you want cup drama, switch to a seeded tournament bracket. MatchPlan sizes the draw to the next power of two, awards Round 1 byes fairly to the top names so two byes never meet, and numbers every fixture so a blank A4 sheet works smoothly with a pen at courtside.
With an odd number of participants, one slot becomes a rotating bye in each round. Every participant has a bye once per single round robin and plays the exact same number of matches against everyone else.
Participants are sorted first by points, second by score difference and third by total points or goals scored. When two or more participants are equal on all three, they share the same rank number.
If your group size isn’t a power of two, MatchPlan expands to 4, 8 or 16 slots and gives Round 1 byes to the top-listed participants. Two byes never face each other, and you can shuffle the list first for a random draw.
Knockout matches need a winner to advance. When both scores are equal, two tie-break buttons appear on that match so you can mark who won penalties, overtime or the tie-break.
